I tried it from Ext1 sources and it was not greyed out and so you could change the the options of it off,low,medium,high,auto however nothing change on the image even if you are in front of the tv and watch closely the image even a paused image I don't find nothing about this issue so for me it's very strange that an option doesn't work at all, it's not greyed out so it is suppose to work but About 2M to 3M looking at it.
